| Context: Students have previously been introduced to this topic in fourth grade in an informal way with presentations and during the Arts Enrichment program. This will be the first time they will be held accountable for this information. |
| Materials/Technology: Shadow Puppet Movie, the Elements of Drama Power Point, First Exit Slip, Second Exit Slip |
| Procedures:
Week 1: Students will be introduced to the three categories of elements of drama. The Library Media Specialist will go through the Power Point about the drama elements, using the computer and projector. Students will then complete an exit slip about the elements of Drama. Week 2: Students will review the elements of drama, then view a video about puppets in India. They will discuss how drama is a cultural element in every culture and that many cultures create puppets. After the movies, they will discuss which of the elements of drama they observed in the movie. Then, they will complete the second exit slip. Week 3: Students will review the elements of drama by reviewing the Power Point presentation, viewing the online shadow puppet movie and answering questions about the elements of Drama. |
| Student Assessment: Students will be assessed on the exit slips they complete. |
