Lesson Plan:
Week #1: Students will review the CHAMPs expectations for the Library Media Center. Then, they will review all the rules about book care and choosing picture books in the story corner, as well as the rules for the Library Media Center. Students will then listen to "The Kindness Quilt", by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace and discuss kindness to others. They will then check out books for the first time and work on their own kindness quilt square until it is time to line up.
Week #2: Students will review the CHAMPs expectations and listen to "Pieces: A Year in Poems and Quilts" and "Papa and the Pioneer Quilt", by Jean Van Leeuwen. Then, they will check out their books.
Week #3: Students will review the CHAMPs expectations and listen to "The Keeping Quilt", by Patricia Polacco and "Selina and the Bear Paw Quilt", by Barbara Smucker.
Assessment: Students will be holistically assessed as they remember the rules of the Library Media Center.
